FROM THE RECTOR There appears to be very little space in the Newsletter for the Rector this month, which indicates how busy the parish is! As this is the last Newsletter before September may I take this opportunity to wish all the readers of St. Maelruain’s Newsletter a very happy and safe summer. I would like to thank all those that volunteer during the year to ensure the running of the Parish and it’s organisations, your work is very much appreciated. Just a little reminder that although the organisations are finished for the season the Church doors remain invitingly open every Sunday during the summer months.                                          God bless,                        William.

FLOWER GUILD We were all very sorry to hear of the passing of Imelda Bird who was one of the flower guild for many years. It came as a shock to us all. We will all miss her cheery smile and pleasant humour and of course the floral arrangements that Imelda provided for our pleasure in the Church. Our thoughts are with Jim, Ruth, David and Hazel .
Thank you to all the flower guild members for their ongoing help with the flowers. It is very much appreciated.
Regina.

MOTHER’S UNION / FAMILIES FIRST  Before I say anything else I would like to extend sincere sympathy to Jim Bird and his family on the very sad passing of his wife Imelda in April. Imelda was a loyal member of our branch and we will miss her very much.

On Saturday 13th  May we had a great evening at the Civic. We met at the theatre at 5.30pm and had a lovely meal in the theatre restaurant. After being well fed we headed into the theatre to see the show which was 'Guys and Dolls' and was put on by the liberties college performance course. It was an outstanding production with a very talented cast. It was a musical and lots of the music was very familiar including Bushel and a Peck, I've Never been in Love Before, Luck be a Lady Tonight, so we all went home singing! All in all it was a most enjoyable evening and I reckon we'll be back to the Civic Theatre very soon as we had a great night. We have had our final meeting till September so we look forward to seeing everyone back for another season then and wish all our members a safe and happy summer. Valerie
